American Idol: Hollie Cavanaugh Goes Home, Joshua Ledet, Jessica Sanchez, Phil Phillips Are Final 3

Hollie Cavanagh received the fewest number of votes and was sent home on American Idol on Thursday night.

Hollie Cavanagh was sent home last night on American Idol. Nine other singers had been sent home before her, so she lasted longer on the show than expected.

She received some harsh criticism from Jimmy Iovine, who said she crashed and burned, while singing on Wednesday night’s competition show.

You could tell she was not shocked to be going home and kept her composure, while singing her farewell song last night. Joshua Ledet was visibly moved while Holly sang her goodbye song. Hollie may never be a recording star on the level of some previous American Idols, but could still carve out a nice career for herself.

It was no surprise that Joshua Ledet, Jessica Sanchez and Phil Phillips made the final three and will be rewarded with trips to their hometown this weekend.

Right now, it looks like Joshua and Jessica will be the last two singers left on finale night. However Phil Phillips could have something to say about that if he performs well next week.

I can see Joshua winning the title of the American Idol of Season 11, but we have seen a lot of surprise votes, when the final two face each other in their showdown.

Regardless of how the voting goes in the next two weeks, Joshua should be a successful recording artist and should have no problem being signed to recording contract, probably by Jimmy Iovine.

Last night’s show really had no drama since the voting was almost a foregone conclusion.

By this time next week we will know who the final two are. It appears that Joshua Ledet has to be one of the finalists, after such great feedback from the judges and Jimmy Iovine. However, even that is not a sure thing, since fans sometimes don’t vote on their favorite, if they think their favorite is so far ahead, that they don’t bother voting for them.

I can see Jessica Sanchez and Joshua Ledet going far if they are the next American Idol, but Phil Phillips may have more problems trying to sell his albums if he becomes the next American Idol.
