Ronnie Milsap singing Don’t You Ever Get Tired of Hurting Me
It is hard to believe that it has been 55 years since Ronnie Milsap recorded his first single in 1963, and he is now 75 years old. It would be ten more years, before recording his first Top 10 hit, with I Hate You which peaked at No.10 in 1973.
Milsap started a 14 year streak of having at least one No.1 hit each year. At one point he had 10 straight No.1 hits.
He has an amazing 40 No.1 hits, which is not close to George Strait’s 57 No.1 hits but still can be proud of his accomplishments in country music despite being almost blind at birth and later losing both eyes in surgery to prevent blood clots.
Only Strait and Conway Twitty have had more No.1 hits than Milsap.
If not for Charley Pride advising him to move to Nashville and sing country music we may have missed out of one of the greatest country singers of all time.
He is left out of the discussion, when it comes to mentioning the greatest country singers of all time, since you always hear about George Jones, Patsy Cline and Merle Haggard but not Milsap.
Someday, Milsap will receive the credit he deserves.
Don’t You Ever Get Tired of Hurting Me and Woman in Love were his last No.1 hits in 1989. 22 years later he is still active in country music at the age of 68.
