There is a plethora of biopics planned including one for 16 year old Justin Bieber with him portraying himself. I had always thought biopics were produced late in the life or after the death of the subjects but Bieber has been in the spotlight so much the producers want to take advantage of his popularity now.
The untitled 3D movie is scheduled to be released in February of 2011.
Michael Douglas will be portraying the pianist Liberace in a biopic which also will star Matt Damon….Dennis Wilson of the Beach Boys is subject of another planned biopic….Reese Witherspoon may portray jazz singer Peggy Lee and may also produce the film.
John Belushi is scheduled to be the subject of another biopic after Todd Phillips acquired the rights from the Belushi family. Belushi’s widow Judith will be the executive producer. Phillips will have to walk a fine line by keeping the family happy and still tell the story about the wild habits of Belushi.
There won’t be any Grateful Dead music in a planned biopic about Jerry Garcia. The only time Garcia will be shown singing is when he is singing covers of songs sang by other singers. The movie will feature interviews with the members of the Grateful Dead and will delve into the drug use by Garcia.
Kurt Cobain’s widow Courtney Love is producing a biopic of her late husband’s life story….Steven Spielberg has been planning on shooting a biopic on the life of Abe Lincoln for five years and Liam Neeson who would have played Lincoln has bowed out of the role saying he is now too old to play Lincoln.
Once again a Janis Joplin biopic is being planned this time with Amy Adams portraying the singer but the planned biopic has failed to materialize in the past and never reached the theaters….Leonard DiCaprio will be starring in a biopic about former FBI director J. Edgar Hoover with Clint Eastwood directing.
There are two Marilyn Monroe biopics in the planning stages with the movie starring Naomi Watts titled Blonde set to start filming in January while Nicole Kidman could also star in a movie about Monroe….John Edwards is the subject of a planned biopic which Edwards has to hope never sees the light of day.
The late bluegrass singer Bill Monroe could have a biopic in the future. Soul singer Marvin Gaye has two potential biopics in the works.
There are so many other biopics in the planning stages that it will take too much time to list them all. This is a list of other known biopics mentioned in the last couple of years:
Other Planned Biopic Subjects
Jackie Kennedy (Film would focus on the four days between the death of her husband and his burial with Rachel Weisz starring as Jackie.)
Nina Simone (Mary J. Blige would portray the singer.)
Hank Williams Sr.
