Dennis Wilson Movie Being Shot in January

The Dennis Wilson biopic The Drummer is scheduled to start shooting in January. Wilson who was the only Beach Boy that actually surfed had a turbulent life in addition to his success as the drummer for the Beach Boys.

The movie will focus on the last six years of his life. That would mean there will be nothing in the movie about him picking up some hitchhiking Manson girls that led to Charles Manson living in the house with Wilson and the Beach Boys actually recording a song that Manson wrote.

Wilson solved the problem with Manson living in the house by moving out leaving the house for Manson and Manson would have his followers commit the Tate-LaBianca murders.

In fact Wilson indirectly may have led to the murder of Sharon Tate by telling Terry Melcher the son of Doris Day about listening to Manson’s music in view of Manson getting a recording contract. Melcher rented his home to director Roman Polanski and Sharon Tate and Manson follower Susan Atkins said the murders were to strike fear into Melcher for not keeping his word in some promises made to Manson. It all ties in with Dennis Wilson since if he had not connected Manson with Melcher Sharon Tate and the others would almost certainly have not been killed.

It is ironic that Wilson had Charles Manson living in his house the year before the murdering spree by his followers and since there is no timeline available as to when Wilson moved out of the house leaving Manson and his followers it may be possible that Manson may have lived there much closer to the date of the murders.

Even with the Manson story missing from the movie it should be an excellent movie since Dennis Wilson had plenty of turbulence in his life with his drinking and his going in and out of rehab.
