Cal Smith: Country Bumpkin

The song Country Bumpkin climbed to No. 1 on the country charts in 1974. The song tells a story about the joys and sorrows of life and the late Cal Smith does an excellent job of telling that story through this song.

The song is extremely well written regardless of the title and the phrasing by Smith makes the song come alive to the listener.

Cal Smith died October 10, 2013 in Branson, Missouri.

  1. I have almost forgotten exactly how Country Bumpkin lyrics are. I know I have it here and going to play it. I must have enjoyed this or I wouldn’t have bought the record. The old disks are getting popular again and I am glad I kep all of my old records, The problem with the disks was the warping if not properly stored, in correct temperature

  2. I saved the Country Bumpkin video of Cal Smith into the Real Player on the computer since they gave me the option to download it in case they take it off my website.

He looks so sincere while he is singing the song and I have watched it at least ten times since I first saw it.

So far all the records I have bought have been in good condition. I always look inside to make sure there are no scratches.
